Blushing beauty

I was a teenager in the eighties, when blush was worn along the length of the cheekbones. To apply, we sucked in our cheeks and followed the line of the cheekbone.

Fast forward to now, when we wear our blush on the apples of our cheeks. To apply, we smile widely and brush the blush on the circles of the cheekbone.

Fashion is fashion and I’m happy to follow trends; I have no preference for either look. (Admittedly today’s style looks more natural to me, but then doesn’t it always?)

What makes me really happy is that I have to smile at myself when putting on makeup, something that, especially as we age, is a positive practice. I find myself saying “Good morning gorgeous” to my reflection each day as I apply my makeup. What a lovely way to start the day!
